Don’t Let Your To-Do List Fester and Turn Green

We all know that cleaning the fridge isn’t the most fun task. If you leave stuff in there, it turns green beyond recognition. This is something that can happen in any area of your life, like your house and your career and even your marriage. Things need attention and nurturing and sometimes things need to be chucked in the trash bin, too!

Finance

I’ve been letting my lack of organisation with last year’s income tax fester and now if I don’t get something done quick I’ll be missing out on some funds. I have decided to stop letting it fester and move it to the top of the to-do list so it gets done.

I’m also, as you  may have read in previous posts, cleaning up my personal finances with a new budget. This is going to help me manage my money as a to-do list and I’m expecting great results.

Housekeeping

My kids are away for 2 weeks (I miss them like CRAZY!) and yesterday I had pushed cleaning  the boy’s bunny cage to the point where it stunk beyond his bedroom so I had to buckle down and take care of it.   I harrass that boy about cleaning that cage every day and yet when he went away I let it go because it was unpleasant. I had to make sure I got it done because he’s home tomorrow and I want to lead by example. How can I expect him to keep his room clean if mine is a tip? I am cleaning it today before he gets home!

Work

A client who had been really getting under my skin had taken it too far and I finally relieved myself of the agony. Instead of letting things fester, sometimes it’s good to just deal with the pain for a half an hour and get it over with. That way, the pain is gone and you can move on!

Procrastination really is self-punishment. Today’s advice from me (which I’m trying to take for myself, too) is to get it done..think of the relief you’ll feel when that something you’re dreading is finally OFF your to-do list.

  1. Great advice. Now off to finish something so I can cross it off that list!
