A Dollar Saved is A Dollar Earned - Usually…

I am overhauling my family’s finances and adopting an envelope system budget as well as putting my husband and myself on an allowance. I want to get out of the red and into the green :)

I have been trying various cost cutting measures with great success but yesterday while in the local dollar store with the kids buying my zippable envelopes for the new budget system that starts this Friday, I came across this interesting dollar store item: dollar store pregnancy tests. Ummm, I don’t think so.

I’m looking forward to this new challenging chapter in life where I’m trying to earn more money writing without spending more money while at it. I plan to share some of this journey here. I’m looking forward to saving money on groceries, cutting corners and reducing our spending but in my opinion, there are certain things you just have to pay full price for. I don’t have any need for pregnancy tests right now but if I did, I think I’d splurge on the drug store version. :)

By the way, I made my very first ClickBank sale yesterday. I thought I was hitting a new level of internet marketing superstardom. Alas, I found out it was a friend/colleague that bought something from one of my blogs. It was a nice looking sale though and I thank her for buying her e-books from me but it was a bit anticlimactic when I realized I didn’t ‘really’ sell something with my suave internet marketing prowess. It was a little like getting first prize for selling the most girl guide cookies and then later finding out your parents bought all the boxes from you :)

  1. Still counts even if your parents bought the cookies (or your friend bought the e-book) :)

  2. LOL Jen. I await some serious big sales. It was nice to log in and not see a bunch of $0.00 that day. Rather shocked me :)
