Ode To Husbands and Donuts

I’ve put on 15 pounds in the last year. My whole life I’ve been a skinny mini but since having wee boy 4 years ago and consequently kicking cigarettes 9 months earlier, (plus now being in my 30′s) I guess my metabolism has changed.

Add to that the fact that I’ve worked at home the last 2 years instead of in a busy office where running around was common (as was getting home at 6:pm to realize I hadn’t eaten all day long.) it’s time for some habit changing.

So, all week I’ve (mostly) cut the junk food and am trying to exercise every day on my stationary bike and my rebounder. Tonight I told him “NO” caesar salad and yes to a chef’s salad with my grilled chicken breast. It was a crazy day workwise and I was happy he was going to do the shopping and pick up dinner considering I do an awful lot around here and often complain about lack of help. He’s really picked up lately and been much more helpful so I’m happy about that but what I’m not happy about is that he brought home a dozen donuts from Tim Horton’s and one of them was the most frickin awesome (sorry for the f -word but mere words were insufficient) donut I’ve ever had. It was a strawberry blossom donut. Have you ever had strawberry blossom cookies? Imagine the same topping on a soft glazed donut but with a center that looked like a Peak Frean’s Fruit Creme cookie. Oh my goodness… I’m both mad at him and whispering sweet nothings about later on. Gotta work those extra calories off somehow!

  2. Hi. I came to your blog from a meme post on another blog and noticed that you mentioned the “rebounder” as one of your exercise tools. I just wanted to say that I LOVE the rebounder!! It’s a great cardio exerciser and I find that twenty minutes a day on the rebounder is all it takes for some serious workout benefits! Plus, who doesn’t enjoy jumping up and down like a seven year old…:) Thanks for the post and I’ll continue to check out your blog. Take care and all the best.

  6. They were very nummy, Nicole. We went back a few days later and bought another dozen and I took the rest of the ones like that (5) so the whole family could try them. I need to STOP! Food is just so darn good :)
