Beware of the Zone - A Reminder For Distracted Moms

As a writing wahm I often get very enthralled in my work. I’ve positioned the Wee Boy’s computer right beside mine. Yes, I know he’s four and yes he does have his own computer. We work together a lot as cubicle mates and he’s becoming very computer savvy, yes he is. I think he might be able to solve a Wordpress problem I’m having actually…

Definition of The Zone

The zone is that happy place where words flow out of your fingers like silk and you are so ‘in’ the moment of writing, you don’t hear much around you and your children’s voices start to sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher

This mini post is just a reminder to myself and to other wahms out there that we have to be very careful about over multitasking and making deals with preschoolers or toddler. I have to remember to be careful of when I get into that zone where I get so enthralled in my work that I agree with everything he says without really hearing him because he is demonstrating that he certainly doesn’t understand reprimands when he says, “But Mommy, you said ‘yes honey’.”

Next time you agree to something, check yourself. Be sure you’re not agreeing to anything to do with unique craft ideas or plans involving family pets or anything involving vast amounts of water.
