Why I Love Working at Home- A Self-Inflicted Meme
By Dana Prince on Jun 8, 2008 in Uncategorized

Momphabet Soup’s debut post is going to be a meme from Kelly McCausey about working at home. I decided to tag myself after reading the Story Ideas Virtuoso. Working at home has done more than save me on pantyhose and commuting. It’s given me an opportunity to live my dream of being a writer. It’s crazy sometimes and I do on occasion complain about working at home because of the lack of benefits, sick days, punch-out clock and fancy schmancy business lunches but I do love:
- Getting kisses from Noah throughout the day
- I make way better coffee than the corporate sludge I used to get at the Big Meatball (my nickname for my former employer)
- I watch the Y&R at 11:am every day as my mid day indulgence
- I can work in the backyard and look at the lake
- I control the office music
- I get to WRITE for a living

Thanks for participating in the meme. Getting kisses is the best and controlling the office music is pretty darn awesome too

Dana,
I have to agree with Kelly about your list, especially the kisses and being able to control office music part.
I once had a job (for 3 days - long, boring story - hey, I was young) where the woman 2 seats down from at the soldering bench played her radio, set to a hillbilly channel. I kid you not. If it had been Country and Western I could have tolerated it.
So I totally “get” the need to control office music.
Congratulations on beginning your blog! That’s exciting. I wish you all the best with it.
Anytime you want to carry on a cross-blog conversation, I’m game. Those are fun, kind of like this meme.
From one writer to another (shh - don’t tell anyone), I think we’ve got the best job on earth. We get to write all day!

Thanks, Deb. I haven’t gotten sucked into a meme in awhile. Yours appealed to me
This is probably blog # 15 for me but I’m looking forward to developing it.
I agree with you completely about how great it is to be able to write for a living. God Bless the Internet!
